Inauguration of the oxygen plant donated by Ebro India and Ebro Foundation in Karnal and Kalpana Chawla awards

Last November 9th Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal, together with the Managing Director of Ebro India, Peter Walker, inaugurated the PSA oxygen plant  donated by Ebro India and the Ebro Foundation to the Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College & Hospital in Karnal, one of the largest hospitals in the state of Haryana.

This solidarity initiative was the response to the severe health crisis that arose in India during the second wave of COVID-19 as a result of the shortage of oxygen sources to mitigate the effects of the virus.

During the inauguration ceremony, the Prime Minister thanked the company for its contribution and highlighted the fact that Ebro India was becoming one of the leading companies in India due to its various and continuous social responsibility initiatives. Peter Walker, for his part, pointed out that Ebro always works with the philosophy of seeking the welfare of the communities in which it operates, and that is why, when the second wave arrived, they did not hesitate to take the decision to install this oxygen plant, which will continue benefiting the residents of Karnal during the coming years.

Taking advantage of the Prime Minister’s presence, Ebro India wanted to make him part of the Kalpana Chawla Awards ceremony. These awards are inspired by the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao program, a campaign initiated by the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, to promote gender equality and emphasize the importance of their education and participation. The program inspired Ebro India and in 2016 it launched the Kalpana Chawla Awards, with the aim of encouraging female students to follow their dreams and giving them a reward and recognition. During its first year, 2016, Ebro India awarded ten students, 20 in the third year and today, the total number of awarded female students stands at 80 students.

The Chief Minister of Haryana congratulated and presented the award to the 20 awardees and encouraged them to continue their good performance, wishing them a bright future.

This is not the first time that the Foundation and Ebro India have promoted an initiative together; both have been collaborating closely since our establishment in India with the aim of improving the living conditions and socioeconomic development of the Haryana region and all the stakeholders with who Ebro India interacts in the course of its business.
